It’s the holiday season! Many of us send gifts to our loved ones during this time of the year. Instead of shopping online and buying something that is packaged, can you give a meaningful gift that helps the environment? Something that does not use any packaging? Find out more by scrolling down!

DECEMBER SPARK ACTIVITY

Communicate & Take Action

Communicate results with your peers and take action to improve!

Analyze

  • How will I know I was successful?
  • What was difficult about this task?
  • What can I improve on in this process?
  • What can I take away from my research that can be used to make in my life or others?

Hypothesis

  • Can you send a digital gift to a loved one? How about writing a song and recording a video message instead of printed cards? Can you hand-deliver in a way that meets COVID-19 safety measures?
  • If you have to send a gift to a loved one, can you think of ways in which you can reduce the use of packaging? Maybe instead of wrapping the gift and then re-wrapping to be mailed, can you wrap it only once?

Explore

  • Technology
  • Pinterest and DIY crafts
  • Local organizations that could use decorations
  • Craft fairs and food items
  • Creative, eco-friendly ways of gift wrapping
