3. World-wide Day of Action, December 7

2007 Day of Action

Set aside time with your students to prepare for the upcoming Day of Action against climate change on December 7th. The Canadian Youth Delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference and the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition will be calling on all Canadians to participate in this world-wide event.

The Day of Action will coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (Conference of the Parties 14 or COP 14) from Dec. 1–12, 2008 in Poznan, Poland. Visit the CYD website in the coming weeks to see personal blogs from some of Canada's young delegates. Also watch our next issue of GL News for more information on the lead-up to the conference and to the December 7th Day of Action.

4. New Booklet on Climate Change

Climate Change bookletNeed the facts on climate change? Looking for clear and current information? Last month, the Pembina Institute released a short introductory booklet on climate change based on the most recent data from the International Panel for Climate Change (IPCC). Climate Change—It's Time addresses five topics:

  • What is climate change?
  • What causes climate change?
  • Why does climate change matter?
  • What is Canada's role?
  • What can you do?

The December 7th Day of Action and the Dec. 1–12 United Nations Climate Change Convention in Poznan, Poland will create a teachable moment around climate change later this fall. You may want to use this booklet as a resource and make use of GreenLearning's popular Climate Change Resource Centre.
