Teachers, Invite Your Students to Participate in the Kobe Challenge

Give your students an opportunity to have their voices heard by the G8 Environment Ministers when they meet in Kobe, Japan, May 24 to 30. Young people from around the world are invited to vote for one statement, from a list of three, that best captures their concerns and hopes about climate change. The one that receives the most votes will be presented to the senior G8 ministers as the Kobe Challenge.

The ICCBritish Council Canada has selected three Canadian students to attend the Environment Ministers’ Conference in Kobe. The involvement of these International Climate Champions (ICC) is part of the British Council’s program to engage this generation of young people in understanding and acting on climate change. The ICC traveled to London, England in March where they met with experts in climate change to discuss the Kobe Challenge. At the conference in May, they will join 36 other outstanding students from around the world and make a presentation to the G8 Environment Ministers.
